&Daughter was founded in 2013 with the intention to create a forever sweater. In partnership with Scottish and Irish makers, a legacy of skill and craftsmanship passed through generations, creating foundational knitwear made from the highest quality natural yarns and in the best way possible.
SPUN & MADE WITH CARE
&Daughter supports a local and specialist supply chain based on the borders of Scotland and the West Coast of Donegal. We know each of our makers by name. These are family-owned, independent businesses, founded on generations of craftsmanship and knowledge.
Our makers follow the artisanal knitting technique called ‘fully fashioning’. This means that each part of a garment is knitted separately, then hand-linked together and finished by hand – a time-in-ensive process that requires great care and attention.
THE YARN & SUSTAINABILITY
Our wool and cashmere yarns are spun by heritage mill Todd and Duncan, whose atelier is situated on a nature reserve in Loch Leven, Scotland. They cherish and protect the water from the Loch, using responsible washing processes that allow them to return the water without negative impact.
Ninety per cent of the wool we use is sustainably certified by Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) or RSPCA Approved. Our cashmere is certified by the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA).
