WHAT DO YOU DO
For a living - during the week I’m a Photo Director at a studio here in Des Moines. I spend my days working with a Photographer and Food Stylist on set for cookbooks and magazines. On the weekends I spend my time as a barista at Zanzibar’s Coffee Adventure for the good vibes and the community <3
For fun - so many things! I recently traveled from California back to Iowa on a solo motorcycle trip. During the warmer months, you’ll likely see me cruising around town on my creamsicle colored Triumph with a shiny silver helmet! I also have my nutrition certification, and most mornings you’ll find me at my local CrossFit box (CrossFit 8035) lifting weights. I’m honestly a girl of many interests: reading, gardening, planning and creating are some of my favorite things.
BEAUTY
I just turned 30 this year and decided I should take a little more serious approach for my skincare. I recently started using Glossier products and I’m in love! (As a graphic designer, I’m also OBSESSED with their packaging). I use Solution, which is their exfoliator, as well as their sheer Perfecting Skin Tint for slight coverage. I lucked out genetically with my eyebrows, so I use their Boy Brow in black for just a little control. Other than that, I use Burt’s Bees Nourishment Facial Oil and Thayer’s Witch Hazel toner.
HOME
I was lucky enough to grow up in the home of a prop stylist. My mom has definitely influenced the style of my home in so many ways. I don’t know exactly how to describe it, but it’s definitely eclectic! I hate clutter, so I try to make everything as useful as it is beautiful. I do tend to keep a lot of keepsakes: polaroids of loved ones, art from friends and tokens from my travel adventures are scattered around the apartment. One day I hope to have a small piece of land where I can have a garden and chickens again. Until then, all of my houseplants will have to do!
CLOSET
My style is definitely very simple. I don’t try to overly complicate things, and I like pieces that can be mix and matched. Lately I’ve been loving a little black bodysuit under a pair of high-waisted jeans or shorts. Sometimes I throw a handkerchief on, especially if I’m jumping on my motorcycle. The older I get the more I’m finding myself drawn to very natural tones, and I’m working on creating a more balanced and sustainable wardrobe.
