GOOD MORNING

Sunday is my chance to really slow down and enjoy the morning.

The first thing I do when I wake up is to either drink hot lemon water or tea. Both are such a great start to the day. Drinking lemon water in the morning helps with digestion and detoxification. Lemons also contain Vitamin C, which is great for skin. In terms of tea, I prefer loose leaf. Lately I’ve been drinking an Oolong tea called Pacific Breeze from Gong Fu Tea. It has a really beautiful flavor that makes me feel like I’m on vacation in the tropics.

After making my tea, I make my way onto my yoga mat. I always burn incense when I practice yoga. It helps me feel more grounded and focused. The Norden Idyllwild incense has a dry, earthy scent to it. If you close your eyes, you’re in the forest on a warm day. How about that!

Next, I do my skincare routine and—depending on my mood and activities planned for the day—my makeup.

I was really into the 10 step korean skincare routine for a while, but lately I’ve been cutting back on only a few products. For cleanser, I use Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser. It is made with the same cleaning agent found in contact lens solution, so it’s safe to use on your eyes. I follow that with Palermo Body’s Hydrating Facial Toner. Ingredients include rose and chamomile water to soothe irritation and brighten skin. It also has witch hazel—a natural astringent—and aloe to moisturize. Finally, I use the Lapis Balancing Facial Oil by Herbivore Botanicals. This oil is formulated for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types. Azulene, which gives the oil its deep blue color, is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial great for reducing redness.

For makeup, I start with Glossier Stretch Concealer to cover up any skin redness. Next, I use the URB Apothecary Cheeks Lips Stain on my lips and cheeks. This stuff is killer. It gives you an effortless, dewy look. Then I’m back to Glossier for a little highlight. I use Haloscope in Quartz. I’ve all but removed eyeshadow from my routine, so next is Anastasia Beverly Hills Duo Pencil to give my brows a little definition—oh, and of course Glossier Boy Brow to fill them in. Finally, I round my routine out with Maybelline New York Full ‘N Soft Mascara. I like that this mascara looks super natural. It never gets hard or clumpy.

On a warmer day, I would skip all the makeup and hop on my bike for a nice Sunday ride. CAN IT PLEASE GET WARM SOON?! Alas, for now, it’s time to play with the cats and hit up a local breakfast spot. And really, who doesn’t love breakfast. So it looks like I’ve done it again, another rejuvenating morning!
