WHAT DO YOU DO
Thanks for coming to hang out at my spot! I am a writer/musician/teacher
BEAUTY
I like the transitional hair wash by Shea Moisture. I wash my hair twice a week and use it in between washes to give new life to my unwashed locks : ) It doesn't strip the oil out, just makes it softer. I like lots of Shea Moisture stuff. This winter I've kept the dryness at bay with the Coconut face lotion in the day-time and the overnight face oil at night. Luxurious but affordable : )
And then Fat and the Moon, they're out of California I believe… love their stuff, too. I use their Sensitive deodorant cream every day because my armpits are super sweaty and normal deodorant is just a disaster. Ha! It's basically just moisturizer for your armpits and I always smell nice no matter how much I sweat. Unless I'm at the gym… ha! I also have their "Pimple Mud"... it's great in the summer as a mask, and a comforting product to dry out blemishes and soothe bites.
I also like Little Seed Farm products. They're based in rural TN and make sustainable skincare on their farm. My friend gifted me some of their stuff and I loved it. Ha! Obviously, I like beauty products way too much.
HOME
My style is at the whim of the world. I'm not good at interior design and I feel my place is a WIP always! Most of my stuff is thrifted or a hand me down. That low-income musician life : ) But I love hanging out in my space. I listen to records, take a bath, read a lot, write songs or journal… I'm very happy and peaceful at home. I hope someday to have a bigger space with a room for all my music gear, a beautiful baby grand piano, a guest room and a big kitchen/dining room for hosting. And a garden! I hope I get to watch trees go and landscape. Ha, obviously I need to get serious about cash flow right away to make all this happen : ) For now, my days are simple and my apartment small and that's good too.
CLOSET
Clothes are another of my weaknesses... and shoes. Although in winter I almost exclusively just wear my faux fur boots so my shoe habit is not exhibited this season. Winter dress is mostly about comfort and warmth unfortunately because I can't stand being cold. So my winter closet is less exciting. On days when it's warmer, I take advantage of the opportunity to wear something other than my boring winter uniform of sweaters, flannels, and faux fur... But like my furniture, most of my closet has been given to me or thrifted : ) I got rid of tons of stuff a few years ago when I wore a sort of uniform every day... that was nice to have extra time to do other things all the time... but I'm back to having fun with dressing and have way too many clothes again. Sue me : )
